YEAR: 2021 – ACOUSTIC STUDY
The Acoustic Study of the main hall of the Oscence Theatre in Huescar (Granada) is to make the current uses compatible with a new use of film projection.
The Oscense Theater is located in the church of the old Santo Domingo Convent.
In the main room, the subject of this acoustic study, is one of the most important jewels of Huescar, a Mudejar coffered ceiling that covers what is the current stalls. Dated from the middle of the s. XVI, it has been maintained as it was in its origin.
The design of the room is not the object of study since it is an enclosure built with marked singularity in heritage-protected elements.
However, the points that should be avoided in the design of a room for film reproduction are:
– Concave shapes that produce sound concentrations.
– Large reflective surfaces that produce excessive reflection delay.
– Highly reflective parallel surfaces that produce floating echoes.
– Equality in the dimensions that produces its own modes.
A configuration is proposed that has the following characteristics:
-Minimal impact on the room.
-Easily allows switching between music and film projection.
-The reverberation time 1'0-1'2s that will be reached, not being an optimal value for cinema if it allows its use by adapting the electroacoustic installation to the final conditions of the room.
-Better definition values.
-Better speech intelligibility values.
-EDT lower than T30.
