Comprehensive renovation of the central market in Castellón de la Plana
The proposed functional program is composed of: d
– Stalls dedicated to the sale of food products. A redistribution of stalls, circulation areas, and service spaces is proposed, taking into account the linear meterage requirements of each vendor and the request to provide the stalls with the greatest possible depth in order to modernize both the space and its management.
– Food stalls. The market has been expanded to a total of two food stalls (one already existing) in Ecce Homo Alley. These spaces have been provided with access to public restrooms to allow them to operate beyond market hours.
– Extension of a roof level over the fish market. The current non-walkable roof of the fish market is being replaced with a flat, walkable roof to accommodate a future multipurpose area.
– Access core. Access to the market from the garage will be relocated to enhance its presence while also sharing it with the future roof.
– Miscellaneous. The Market will be provided with all the necessary facilities for its use in a centralized manner so as not to impact private facilities within the Market.
– Urbanization. Outside, the alley will be renovated to restore the original roof, removing the overlapping covering. The main façade will be decorated with vegetation to facilitate the use of the restaurant in the Plaza Mayor.
Typical use of the building and other planned uses: The building is currently used as a market. After the renovation, in addition to the market use, a new first floor will be added to the building above the fish market for multiple uses.
